Register: How to Build Resilience While Living with Parkinson’s

As someone with Parkinson’s, or as a care partner to someone with Parkinson’s, you’re probably always on the lookout for ways to live better with Parkinson’s.

That’s why we’re excited to invite you to attend a free webinar called How to Build Resilience While Living with Parkinson’s on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 1:00 pm PST (2 pm MST, 3 pm CST, 4 pm EST).

One of the most profound gifts that comes from working at the Davis Phinney Foundation is a chance to interact with the remarkable members of our Parkinson’s community. Despite the often frustrating diagnosis processes, physical setbacks and significant emotional ups and downs that the people we work with face, they have adapted and are thriving in ways that inspire us daily.

What do all of these people have in common? They’re resilient.

Resilience refers to patterns of positive adaptation that follow a significant adversity such as trauma, death, loss of a relationship, job loss, financial stress and/or serious health problems such as being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Fortunately, we all have the capacity to be resilient; however, it’s not something we automatically are. It’s something we can become through our thoughts and behaviors. And, of course, through practice, which life, for better or worse, gives us plenty of.

During this webinar, you’ll learn more about what resilience is, how it can be assessed and how to act your way to becoming a more resilient person and as a result, live better with Parkinson’s.

More specifically, in this upcoming webinar, you will…

  • Learn how to nurture qualities that build resilience
  • Explore strategies to strengthen your resilience that you can use every day
  • Learn simple practices you can do to ease emotional pain and meet difficult emotions
  • Discover actions you can take to live well with Parkinson’s that will truly make a difference in your life
  • Get a chance to ask your most pressing questions and interact with the instructor

Judy Long Resilience and Parkinson'sThis webinar will be taught by Judy Long, outpatient palliative care chaplain at UCSF.
