Register: Deep Brain Stimulation: What, When, Why & How

Do you have questions about Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)?

DBS is one of the topics people ask us about the most, which is why we’re excited to let you know about a webinar we’re hosting on Thursday, April 18th at 11 AM PST (Please note this is a change from the originally planned date.) called…

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS):
What, When, Why & How?
with Dr. Kara Beasley

It’s designed especially for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners. (In fact, we’d love it if you watched it together!)

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a highly effective and reasonably safe treatment for Parkinson’s; however, it’s also frequently misunderstood.

We’ve put this webinar together to give you the information you need to make the best decision for you.

During this webinar, you will learn…

  • How DBS works
  • About the different types of DBS
  • What symptoms it does and does not help
  • How to decide what DBS device to get when there are so many options available
  • The reality of DBS programming
  • How the approval/evaluation process works
  • About the ethical implications/dilemmas related to DBS
  • The biggest myths or misunderstandings about DBS
  • And much more!

You’ll also have a chance to ask Dr. Beasley your questions.

Dr. Kara Beasley is a neurosurgeon with Boulder Neurosurgical & Spine Associates (BNA). She completed a dual degree in medicine with an MA in Biomedical Ethics at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ and is one of only a few dually credentialed neurosurgeon bioethicists in the world. She completed a general neurosurgery residency at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Before joining BNA, Dr. Beasley also completed fellowships in Stereotactic Radiosurgery at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ, and Functional and Restorative Neurosurgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Beasley decided to dedicate her career in part to the surgical treatment of Parkinson’s disease after meeting people with Parkinson’s and learning about deep brain stimulation during her training.
