Davis Phinney Foundation and CTS Announce New Partnership

Copper Mountain, CO – August 8, 2016 – Last night at the Victory Crew top fundraiser banquet, Chris Carmichael, legendary coach and former professional cyclist, announced a newly signed partnership between CTS and the Davis Phinney Foundation.  The event followed a great day riding bicycles with over 3,000 people at the i25Kia.com Copper Triangle with many members of the Victory Crew, the grassroots fundraising arm of the Davis Phinney Foundation.

“Physical activity, and specifically cycling, dramatically improves the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease,” said Carmichael, Founder of CTS. “I am excited to reunite with my longtime friend and teammate, Davis Phinney, to help fundraise for the Davis Phinney Foundation and provide content to help people with and without Parkinson’s get even greater benefits from physical activity.”

CTS is a personal coaching company offering proven personal coaching for cyclists, triathletes, and runners, along with training camps, training with power, nutrition services, and much more to athletes of all ability levels. In addition to supporting the Davis Phinney Foundation’s fundraising efforts, CTS will be working with the organization to create unique educational content for the Parkinson’s community on nutritional wellness and physical activity through the sport of cycling.

“I’m pleased and proud to have my friend and former teammate, Chris Carmichael, and his staff at CTS join us to help people live well with Parkinson’s,” said Davis Phinney, founder and vice chair of the board of the Davis Phinney Foundation. “It’s wonderful that Chris wants to collaborate in making a tangible difference for our Parkinson’s Tribe, and we look forward to a long and meaningful relationship with CTS.”

Phinney was diagnosed with young onset Parkinson’s disease in 2000 at the age of 40. He and Carmichael were teammates on the 1984 Olympic team and the famed Team 7-Eleven in the 1980s, and both have been inducted in the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame.

“We’re honored to have CTS join the Davis Phinney Foundation in making a positive impact on the quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s,” said executive director Polly Dawkins. “Davis Phinney and his family have given so much to the cycling community, and it’s great to see the industry joining their philanthropic and advocacy efforts for the Parkinson’s community.”
