The Davis Phinney Foundation and the Upstate South Carolina community invites you to join us in Greenville-Spartanburg area for a range of activities designed to support living well today with Parkinson’s.

On Saturday, November 15, 2014,  join the Davis Phinney Foundation and our South Carolina partners for the centerpiece event of the weekend: The Victory Summit® symposium. This national educational event is a moving day of information and inspiration, featuring dynamic presentations from leading movement disorder neurologists and therapists from across the country. It’s an upbeat, fast-paced event of community and connection, filled with laughter and conversation. You will leave feeling motivated and armed with tools to help you be more involved in your own treatment and to improve your quality of life. As one attendee said, “I left this event with the knowledge and hope of how to live well with my Parkinson’s.”

Parkinson’s 101 Plenary Session

A Parkinson’s diagnosis can feel overwhelming and confusing. If you’re recently diagnosed, please join us for this Victory Summit plenary session, Parkinson’s 101. In this 45-minute special session, you’ll learn about:

  • Symptoms and causes of Parkinson’s
  • Smart, daily modifications that can improve quality of life
  • Motivation, inspiration and preparation for the day
  • Helpful resources in your area

Plan to arrive between 8:00am and 8:20am to check-in with our pre-registration table, grab a seat and get comfortable. The Plenary Session will start promptly at 8:30 and conclude at 9:15. Breakfast will not be available, so please eat before you arrive. Coffee and water will be available in the general session that follows.

Free parking is available.

Lodging

There are two local hotels with discounted rates available. The Marriott Courtyard Greenville Haywood Mall (located 5 minutes from the TD Convention Center) is offering a $99 per night, plus tax rate. Reservations: (864) 234-0300 before October 22, 2014. The Spartanburg Marriott (33 minutes from the TD Convention Center, but minutes away from Parkinson’s Community Weekend activities) is offering a $115 per night, plus tax rate. Reservations: (800) 327-6465.

Bus Transportation

For guests coming from Spartanburg, shuttle buses will be available to transport attendees to The Victory Summit in Greenville. Buses will depart at 7:45am, 8:15am and 8:35am from The Spartanburg Marriott (299 North Church Street). Buses will depart from the event at 4:40pm and return to The Spartanburg Marriott.

Reservations are required and the fee is $5 roundtrip, paid in cash on the day of. Please reserve your seat by emailing the following information to SpartanburgVSRide@gmail.com by November 5: Your name, how many people are in your group and the morning departure time of your preferred bus (7:45am, 8:15am or 8:35am).
