The Davis Phinney Foundation and Move4Parkinson’s hosted people living with Parkinson’s, their families and care partners for a unique, international event in Dublin, Ireland. The International Parkinson’s Empowerment Summit 2014 was a full day of learning, moving, singing and more and provided participants with the opportunity to meet others facing challenges similar to their own and to learn a range of techniques for effective self-management of Parkinson’s. Topics covered included motor and non-motor symptoms, emotional well-being, medication awareness and other therapies, nutrition and exercise. Both organizations are dedicated to improving quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s. The US-based Davis Phinney Foundation and Ireland-based Move4Parkinson’s partnered to develop a best-in-class educational event with internationally recognized experts in movement disorders.
“This collaborative, international Parkinson’s event is of huge significance to the Davis Phinney Foundation, as it offers us the opportunity to extend the reach of our programs and our mission of helping people with Parkinson’s to live well today to new audiences,” said Polly Dawkins, Executive Director of the Davis Phinney Foundation. “We are proud to partner with Move4Parkinson’s to create this day of inspiration, education and wellness for the Parkinson’s community in Ireland.”
