Meet the Foundation
The Davis Phinney Foundation is dedicated to helping people living with Parkinson's to live well today

At the DPF we inspire and inform people living with Parkinson’s through:
•    Information on how to live well with PD
•    Investment in research that can improve quality of life
•    Impact on the lives of people with PD through funding of exercise and speech programs
•    Encouragement of those impacted by the disease to celebrate the daily victories in their lives.

Founded in 2004 by PD advocate and cycling great, Davis Phinney, the DPF is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Boulder, Colorado, our tax ID 20-0813566.

Our Beginnings

In 2003, Kathy Krumme wanted to raise money for Parkinson's research.  Krumme, a Cincinnati, Ohio cyclist and bicycle shop manager whose father suffers from Parkinson's disease together with Dr. John Tew, the Clinical Director of the UC Neuroscience Institute contacted Davis.  This partnership led to the founding of the DPF as well as to the start of the Sunflower Revolution.  Today the Sunflower, a three day event that includes a festival, educational symposium and bike ride, not only funds research at the UC Neuroscience Institute, but also raises awareness of the need and potential to help those living with Parkinson's.  Since Kathy's original idea, the Sunflower Revolution has raised $1.3 million.
